On May 6, 2025, the prestigious De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London played host to the second annual National Women in Agriculture Awards, a night dedicated to honouring the remarkable contributions of women in the agricultural sector. Among the distinguished finalists was Clare Otridge, Director of Grounded Research, who earned a well-deserved nomination in the Innovator of the Year

Clare Otridge: Championing Farmer-Led Innovation

Clare's nomination is a testament to her visionary leadership and commitment to transforming agricultural research. At Grounded Research, she has spearheaded initiatives that place farmers at the heart of research processes, ensuring that their voices and experiences shape the future of agriculture. One of her notable achievements includes the launch of the "Five Bar Gate" farmer panel, designed to foster inclusive and accurate research practices that bridge the gap between farmers, retailers, policymakers, and consumers

Reflecting on her nomination, Clare remarked, "At Grounded, we believe that the people who feed the nation should have a voice in shaping its future. I'm incredibly proud of our team, our research panels, and our clients who are brave enough to ask better questions and act on the answers." groundedresearch.co.uk

Applauding the 2025 Innovator of the Year

While Clare did not take home the award, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Jilly Duncan Grant, co-founder and CEO of Herd Advance, who was named Innovator of the Year. Jilly's work in developing digital technologies to assist cattle farmers exemplifies the spirit of innovation that propels the agricultural industry forward.

A Night of Inspiration and Collaboration

The awards ceremony was more than a celebration of individual achievements; it was a gathering that highlighted the collective strength and collaboration among women in agriculture. Hosted by comedian Rachel Parris and judged by a panel of esteemed female leaders in food and farming, the event underscored the importance of community and shared purpose in driving the industry towards a sustainable and inclusive future.

Chloe Ryan, chair of the judging panel, encapsulated the evening's ethos: "The second National Women in Agriculture awards was a wonderful celebration and a fitting way to mark the achievements of all who won. Congratulations to the winners!"

Encouraging Future Trailblazers

Clare's recognition as a finalist serves as an inspiration for aspiring innovators in agriculture. Her dedication to farmer-led research and inclusive practices sets a benchmark for excellence and impact. We encourage women across the agricultural sector to draw inspiration from Clare's journey and consider applying for future awards. The National Women in Agriculture Awards provide a platform to showcase groundbreaking work and to join a community committed to advancing women in the sector.
