GROUNDED RESEARCH – SUSTAINABILITY POLICY AND PLEDGE

Grounded is committed to be carbon negative through reducing emissions, using sustainable inputs and carbon offsetting.

Emission Reduction

• • All business travel on public transport or electric cars

• • Office heaters on timers and seasonally adjusted

• • Paperless accounting and filing

Sustainable Inputs

• • Energy tariff on 100% renewables (Eon.next)

• • Office consumables (Coffee, toilet roll, paper) only bought from sustainable sources (Fair Trade, B-Corps, FSC)

• • Tech (IT/phones) only purchased when existing assets not fit for purpose

Carbon Offsetting

• • 60 indigenous English trees planted annually (by the team) on Broadpool Farm (PE28 2XR) to become Carbon Negative.
    • Annual business Carbon Emissions estimated at 4T/year (Scope 3)
      • Electric car – 2T average per year for manufacturing/parts/fluids
      • Office Materials – 2T per year full carbon cost (Across supply chain for Paper/Furniture/Tech/train travel). Includes server/data costs an 50GB per year.
      • EoN Carbon Zero tariff 
    • • Average Carbon Offset per tree of 200kg (lifetime)

• Based on 80% success rate of tree planting, this is produces a long term carbon negative effect (5T CO2e per year)
