Challenge
Natural England wanted to understand whether its Permissive Access programme had been successful and whether participants were likely to continue once the scheme came to an end. The challenge was to assess both programme performance and future intent.
Approach
We gathered feedback from those who were involved in the scheme for 10 years, exploring their experiences, views on success and intentions regarding continuation after the scheme ended. This long-running body of work allowed for a cumulative understanding of participation, satisfaction and perceived value.
Outcome
The research provided Natural England with a clear view of how the programme had performed and what factors influenced willingness to continue. It helped identify where the scheme had delivered value and where additional support or changes might be needed to encourage longer-term continuation.
