Challenge
The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit wanted robust farmer insight on experiences of extreme weather, attitudes to climate change and Net Zero, and support for related policies. The challenge was to ensure the debate was informed by credible, up-to-date on-farm evidence.
Approach
We delivered a UK-wide survey of 300 commercial farmers, recruited through our verified Five Bar Gate panel and administered via Qualtrics. The survey explored lived experience, sentiment and behavioural attitudes in relation to climate pressures, enabling ECIU to understand both what farmers are experiencing and how they are thinking about climate-related action.
Outcome
The findings gave ECIU an evidence-based view of how farmers are responding to climate-related challenges and where support for climate action is strongest or most fragile. The work helped inform wider policy and communication discussions with grounding in real farm experience.
